What did our first few guests think of Duke ?
What a great job you’ve done – Duke is fabulous! We’ve had a terrific weekend – love the location and the facilities. We’ve been to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the National Trust property at Lanhydrock, also Bodmin, Launceston and Mevagissey. Bodmin moor was great. Had a very good meal at the Springer Spaniel. (very good service, cordial welcome) It was a privilege to be your first guests! We hope to be back! Every success and best wishes for your future projects.

‘Duke’ is superb and lacks nothing – close to everything around. “Complete Serenity!” Camp fire is a great idea to sample a few wines around. Springer Spaniel meal was great although on the expensive side, advisable to book! You must try their ‘Springer chips.’
Many thanks for the warm welcome – we felt completely at home. We are already starting to plan our next visit, all the very best. See you again soon.

Had a lovely time. The van is just fantastic – much better than expected. Everything about it was really nice. I did struggle with the bed as I’m 6’2” but that was the only downside. Bathroom very nice. Dolly the dog loved the freedom to roam.
See you again.

We absolutely loved Duke! We had a great time even though the weather wasn’t kind – but it’s a lovely place to hide away. Everything we needed was here. We walked to the Springer Spaniel and had a lovely meal. Good luck with your future plans – we’ll be back to inspect.

We’ve had a wonderful time, and we will recommend it to all our friends. It was a surprise for John’s birthday and he loved it. It was an excellent surprise. Thank you to Rick and Kym for such a lovely weekend. It was worth every penny!

All be it the weather was chronic the waggon is fab! Like living in a dolls house – everything you need is here and it’s so quiet and relaxing. The pub at the bottom does fab food, and Tavistock is a nice place to amble around, So, all in all – a central, beautiful and peaceful location. We will be back.

Wow! What a wonderful place this is. We’ve had a great time visiting Duke with our baby daughter. Can’t wait to come back in better weather to try the campfire!

What a marvellous place to honeymoon! We got married on 9 August and I just knew when I found this place it would be fantastic. We were not in the least disappointed. Duke felt homely as soon as we came in, and, after an evening, felt entirely like home. The attention to detail is fantastic and makes all the difference between having somewhere to stay and feeling truly welcome. For the restoration and for the truly thoughtful touches such as the milk and tea bags, not to mention the wine and shortbread – and the wonderful home grown apples! Congratulations to Kym and Rick for thoroughly surpassing themselves in providing this place for others, and restoring the old Duke to a measure of happiness from his former down at heel self. Many thanks.

What an awesome place! Never stayed anywhere so cute and charming, great way to escape reality and imagine you’re running away with the circus! We had a lovely night, cooked food around the fire and sat up playing cards, etc., super relaxing! Don’t really want to leave now ha ha! Well done for being such geniuses and creating an amazing little place. Good luck with everything and thank you muchly!

A simply wonderful place to return - for genuine, sincere and honest generosity. The welcome was unsurpassed in 50 plus years of UK holidays. I must make particular reference to your kindness with my mobility problems, thank you. Duke is a grand old gent - when the mother of all storms raged on Monday - he gently rocked us to sleep.
Cheers to you Rick and Kym.

A wonderfully unique place to stay! Everything you could need has been thoughtfully provided. Enjoyed using the woodburning stove - made the waggon even cosier. Campfire is a great idea - were able to use this on our last evening as the weather improved. Beautiful Polperro is a definite place to visit - an artist's paradise. There's an unusual little well just down the road in the village. Thanks for creating such a special place to stay. Truly memorable. Alison and Cliff, Devon

Wonderful time and place. Better weather next time please - smiles. But we've been out and about - it's surprising what can be packed into a few days. Everything such fun and so amazingly different. Hope next time to use the camp fire. Good luck for the future. PS And tonight is such a wonderful night - bright moon and stars. What a treat. Maggs and Colin
September 2008 As soon as we saw Duke online, we were immediately excited. Seeing him in the flesh was even better than we could have imagined. After a long summer of work, the Duke was just what we needed to relax and unwind in the country, surrounded by rabbits, bats and owls. The waggon is perfectly finished - nothing is lacking, and all is beautifully presented. The bathroom is a delight and the campfire is something to cherish. Sitting by the burner of an evening warms both the body and the heart..............with toasted crumpets adding a little something extra. This is a truly beautiful part of the world, and we are sure to return..........a perfect escape to the country. The weather was kind enough to allow us to enjoy a campfire on the final night - an absolute pleasure. Mark and Kelly, Wiltshire
